Common Side

Project scope

Tetridia was appointed to review and analyse the Common Side website in terms of
  • general usability issues
  • general accessibility issues
  • usability and accessibility issues when accessed via touchscreen terminals or with 'simple' webbrowsers
  • Analysis of the website's user-friendlyness with regards to its target-audience of all age groups and varying levels of computer literacy

Our approach

We initially reviewed the overall usability of the site in terms of design and information architecture. Further tests were then conducted with various accessibility tools and software such as screen magnifiers, text only browsers and screenreaders.  Additional accessibility validation tests were conducted with both the Bobby and the Cynthia validation agents. Cross-platform compatibility was tested using various Operating systems & versions and different combinations of different webbrowsers and screensizes.   The Common Side then had to undergo rigorous reviewing and checking against WCAG guidelines & tetridia's usability checklists.

The results

Our final report included a very comprehensive list of the Common Side website's potential and actual shortcomings. We provided a detailed list of the site's strengths and weaknesses and suggested options to improve its overall usability and accessibility. The report also featured graphical demonstrations of compatibility issues with different hard- and software.
