Artists with MCS

Project scope

Artists with MCA approached tetridia for the creation of a new visual identity for the network and the development of a fully accessible website to showcase members' art- and design-work.

The website would be the primary (and in many cases the only) tool to present their creative work such as paintings, cards, music, books, video and sculptures. The Artists with MCS website should also raise awareness about the condition and provide information on alternative materials used by the artists.

Core requirements:
  • Brand development
  • Easy to use and accessible website even on slow internet connections, with older equipment and various software.
  • Full compliance to internet standards (W3C)
  • Multi-lingual
  • Easy to maintain
  • User-friendly design to emphasize individual artwork

Our approach

Branding

We initially provided three draft designs for the Visual Identity to choose from. The chosen design was then refined and finalised. The Visual Identity we delivered fulfilled the technical requirements for various media types such as black & white print, facsimile transmission, print media and internet..

The branding produced has been applied to the following:
  • Letterhead and followup sheet
  • Business cards
  • Compliment slip
  • Envelopes
  • Fax cover
  • Powerpoint presentation templates

In addition to the above, we also provided a comprehensive style guide for reference and future use.

Internet

The design for the website was created based on the new Visual Identity. The final design features a sensible combination of colours to reflect and emphasize the variety of artwork presented on the site.

We advised Artists with MCS on a logical website structure which is easy to navigate and supports accessibility aides. The website was then realised in XHTML and CSS stylesheets to ensure full compliance to W3C and accessibility standards to AAA.

The entire website's content is currently available in both English and German. Additional language support can easily be added in the future.

The dynamic backend architecture supports easy addition of new sections hence allowing the site to grow in the future.
